Cathy and Brian Conner married in May 2015 at a small outdoor ceremony in the beautiful rolling hills north of Frederick, MD. Using their wedding colors of black, white, and red, they wanted to highlight the beauty of their venue location while keeping a simple, modern style for their invitation suite. We went with a red envelope to add a pop of color, and kept the rest of the printed materials monochromatic. The wedding invitations showcased a simple design reminiscent of the tall, towering trees located on the venue property. The design was carried throughout with trees, leaves, and branches on the RSVP postcard as well as the directions card. The wedding program passed out the day of utilized the same tall tree design that was seen on the invitation but in a more muted grey.
Continuing with their vision, I was also asked to create two chalkboard signs for use the day of the wedding. The first was a welcome sign which guided guests into the ceremony space which was located in a field near a beautiful willow tree. The second chalkboard sign was a thank you sign that was used in photographs taken after the ceremony and sent out as thank you postcards to the guests.
The couple also wanted to take a unique twist on table numbers. Rather than numbers, each table was named for a crystal that was placed in a vessel at the center. Attached to the top of each vessel was a hand lettered chalkboard sign for the guests to easily find their table.
The final component I created for their special day were the name cards for each guest. The name cards were small flags attached to a potted succulent, which doubled as a take home gift for each guest.
