One of the benefits of working for a print magazine company for several years was that I was able to utilize my illustration background as well. Often we would run into a situation where we had an article with no imagery, and very little money in the budget to commission work to be done. Rather than opt for stock art or photos, I created images to accompany a variety of stories.
The three covers below were illustrated by myself. The first was to highlight a story about using military training techniques to train lifeguards, the second is a typographic cover for the Public Works Manual, and the third is the Top 50 Builders for Pool & Spa News.
In my time at Hanleywood I was also able to create illustrations to accompany feature stories in several of the magazines. Below are a few select pieces that I created.
I also created various sets of illustrated icons for use in both print and web formats. Below is one set which was used in print format, and another set that was used as overlay images in a digital story that was put together with a team of colleagues.
